OAHS has always had the mission to provide safe and affordable housing to urban and rural First Nation, Inuit and Métis people living off-Reserve in Ontario, but more than that, we strive to create homes and a place for anyone to thrive. One of our greatest joys is to hear the wonderful stories and messages that we receive from new tenants and clients who have become a part of OAHS through their new homes.
Here are just a few examples of the wonderful news that we receive:
“Nia:wen / Miigwetch /Thank You so much for all your help and approval. My 5 year old daughter and I are moving out of a motel room
and buying a house! You have no idea how incredibly happy we are. Your help was very much appreciated throughout this whole
process. Nia:wen for being a part of making this Dream come true for us. We are so Grateful!” – Melanie
“The final walk through [of our unit] went well no surprises. Thank you so much for this opportunity. It means the world to us to give our son something neither [my wife] or I had as children. Things have only got worse with our new neighbor and I’m so relieved that my son and wife will be in a home where they feel safe well I am at work. This program is truly life changing. I can express enough hiw much gratitude we have for this. We will be sure to send pics of the little guy snug in his new nursery.” – Colin
“I just wanted to email you because I wanted to say how much I appreciate everything you have done to help me get a home for me and my son, it truly means the world to me and could not have happened without your help! We are finally getting settled in slowly at the house and it feels so good 😊😊” – Lindsey
