COBOURG — Removed from her home at the age of four, Karen Watts survived a life on the streets to later earn a Master’s degree and find rewarding work with the Ontario Aboriginal Housing Services.

Now a Peterborough resident and proud member of Wikwemikong Unceded Indian Reserve, Karen and her 19-year-old daughter Tonya-Leah Watts shared their experiences overcoming the inter-generational effects of the Canadian residential school system.
