Last month, the CEO of the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation made the surprise announcement that the board of directors had set a new corporate objective: By 2030, every person living in Canada will have access to safe and affordable housing that meets his or her needs. Clearly, this is a laudable goal, and one that will require significant planning and forethought on the part of all governments and key partners across Canada.
