Ontario Aboriginal Housing Services (OAHS) has marked its 30th anniversary September 2024, recognizing three decades of dedication to providing safe, affordable housing for Indigenous communities across Ontario. Now, we’re thrilled to present a 20-minute video featuring OAHS leaders vital to its history and future.
With the help of Accretive Studio, they’ve created a visual retrospective featuring stories from past and present OAHS leaders including:
Sylvia Maracle – Former Founding Member and Chair of OAHS’s Board of Directors
Dawn Lavell-Harvard – Former Vice Chair of OAHS’s Board of Directors
Holly Hughes – Former Founding Member of OAHS’s Board of Directors and Current Consultant at OAHS
Tim Pile – Former Treasurer of OAHS’s Board of Directors
Larry Bellerose – Former Strategic Relationships Manager at OAHS
Cora McGuire-Cyrette – Current Chair of OAHS’s Board of Directors
Justin Marchand – CEO of OAHS
These leaders share insights into OAHS’s journey, how our growth and 30-year benchmark is only the beginning to what community needs and reflecting on what this organization has meant to their own life journeys.
This milestone is a tribute of OAHS’s vision to supporting Indigenous communities through culture-based housing solutions, and how the organization has evolved to address the unique needs of Indigenous people, all while staying true to a For Indigenous, By Indigenous philosophy.
Thank you to Board of Director members past and present, OAHS staff, Accretive Studio, our community partners and to the people we serve and have yet to serve.
