Ontario Aboriginal Housing Services (OAHS) is proud to share that CEO Justin Marchand was recently featured on an episode of the Canadian Institute for the Administration of Justice (CIAJ)’s In All Fairness podcast.

In Episode 104, titled “Barriers to Adequate Housing and How Indigenous Housing Organizations are Filling the Gaps,” host Sarah Rowe is joined by Justin Marchand and Margaret Pfoh, CEO of the Aboriginal Housing Management Association. Together, they explore the systemic and historical barriers Indigenous peoples face in accessing safe, affordable, and culturally relevant housing.

The discussion highlights the enduring impacts of settler colonialism, the ongoing dispossession of Indigenous lands, and how these forces have created a cycle of housing insecurity that is further intensified by issues like intergenerational trauma, mental health challenges, and substance use. The episode also underscores the need for housing policies that are informed by Indigenous voices and rooted in cultural understanding.

As part of the conversation, Justin speaks to the work OAHS is doing across Ontario to address these challenges and offer real, community-driven solutions. His insights offer a powerful reminder of the importance of Indigenous-led housing organizations and their role in reconciliation and housing justice.
