June 27, 2019 – One June 26th, the federal government announced a financial commitment of over $2.16 million for a West Nipissing Housing Development being developed by Ontario Aboriginal Housing Support Services Corporation (OAHS).
Justin Marchand, Executive Director of OAHS, commented that over 200 people are looking for safe and affordable housing in the West Nipissing and Sturgeon Falls and how these 14 units will help to address some of the need on the waitlist.
This development is unique in it’s approach to environmental sustainability, constructed using re-purposed shipping containers. It is also a net-zero development, alleviating tenants of the financial burden of heat and electricity bills.
