A recent report highlights the growing affordability crisis in Canada, revealing that minimum wage earners are struggling to find affordable rental housing. The study indicates that in nearly every region, individuals earning minimum wage cannot afford the average rent, forcing many to allocate a significant portion of their income to housing.
“Tenants in Vancouver, Toronto, Victoria, Kelowna, Ottawa, Calgary, and Hamilton cannot afford a two-bedroom unit even with the combined income of two full-time minimum-wage workers,” the report said.
