OAHS’s Strategic Plan for 2024-2034 was developed in response to the urgent and growing need for affordable, culturally appropriate housing for Indigenous people across Ontario.
The organization has grown significantly over the past decade and is now positioned as a leader in Indigenous housing solutions. This plan was created to guide OAHS over the next ten years as the Indigenous population in Ontario continues to grow and face increasingly complex housing challenges. Looking ahead, the future will focus on building 10,000 new housing units, deepening partnerships, and ensuring that housing solutions are not only sustainable but also rooted in Indigenous culture, environmental stewardship, and community-driven innovation.
OAHS’s 10-year Strategic Plan consists of four strategic priorities with considerations, goals, and key measurements for success.
Each strategic priority was selected through a comprehensive analysis of current housing needs in Indigenous urban, rural, and remote communities, recognizing the growing demand for affordable, culturally appropriate housing across Ontario. These priorities reflect lessons learned from OAHS’s experience during the COVID-19 pandemic, ongoing advocacy efforts, and collaborations with Indigenous and government partners, ensuring that future developments align with both community values and sustainable growth.
